For those that enjoy full-fledged simulators, Ship Simulator Extremes allows gamers to get behind the controls of some of the largest ships in the world as they navigate to their destination through all types of dangers.

True-to-life simulators are an acquired taste for many, and Ship Simulator Extremes does follow the standard model of the countless other simulators that have come before it. Luckily, Paradox Interactive has added a number of new and relatively exciting features that help this game stand out from the pack, and many gamers are going to find themselves enthralled with the expansive world and crisp graphics of this title. Here is a closer glimpse at Ship Simulator Extremes and a few of the key features and additions that have placed it as one of the leading options within this genre.

While there are not going to be any epic sea battles, players that hop into Ship Simulator Extremes are going to head out into the open ocean in some of the most renowned ships in the world in order to deliver cargo and passengers as quickly and safely as possible. This includes everything involved in international shipping, ranging from the mundane taxing out of bays to navigating through hurricanes and swelling water. Players begin by choosing one of thirty civilian ships that they will use on their adventure. The huge selection of styles ranges from tugboats and yachts to freighters and ferries. While moving throughout the game, they will also notice a variety of unique designs for AI controlled ships and vehicles.

While there is a free roaming option to simply explore various oceans, coastal cities, bays, and harbors, most of those playing this game are going to want to work through the campaigns which combine for a total of 30 missions. The missions are broken up into tourism trips, heavy freight transportation, and Greenpeace missions, each of which can be completed in any order that one wishes. With a higher score, players can add small customizations to their ship as well as unlock new features and locations. For those who would like to further add to the experience, there are multiplayer servers that can be chosen from that act similar to the free roaming scenarios, but each ship is controlled by another player.

Ship Simulator Extremes does help to curb the mundane nature of many sims by creating extreme weather scenarios and difficult routes, but this title will most likely appeal to only a select few fans. For gaming enthusiasts who love boats and are interested in relatively complex simulations, this is a great option for a game to get lost in.
